TANIA DOKO
Songwriter biography

Publisher: Sony/ATV Publishing(worldwide)

Aside from being a successful artist/songwriter in her own right (Bachelor Girl, including their debut smash ‘BUSES AND TRAINS’ winning the APRA Song of the Year in 1999, and her own solo achievements), the diminutive Tania Doko has proven her versatility and mark as a songwriter for both Australian and international projects. After their artist signing to Clive Davis’ Arista Records, Tania and James Roche signed a U.S based, worldwide Sony/ATV publishing deal.

Finding inspiration from her two homes, Tania divides her time between one of world’s greatest songwriting hubs - Stockholm and her buzzing live music home town of Melbourne. She has worked with songwriting heavyweights including Jörgen Elofsson, Andreas Carlsson, Anders Bagge, Toby Gad, Ali Tamposi, Tobias Forge and Grammy nominated artist/songwriter, Eric Bazilian (‘The Hooters’). Past credits/features include the Australian club smash with DJ Darren Glen, 'CURIOUS' (Vicious Vinyl), WISH YOU WERE HERE NOW with Gabi Newman & Jason Chance, and writing with international pop stars The Veronicas on the track, 'DON'T SAY GOODBYE' (featuring Tania herself).  2010 saw Tania pen and feature vocals 'JOYRIDE' for the U.S Disney film 'STEP UP 3', co-write and feature vocals on Taylor Dayne's Club U.S Billboard no.7 chart hit single 'FLOOR ON FIRE', as well as 'THE KEY' with Swedish iconic writer Jörgen Elofsson for 2010 German X factor winner, Edita Abdieski. In Stockholm 2012, Tania teamed up with Australian hugely successful producer/writer duo DNA and Elofsson yet again to pen 'WHAT YOU'VE DONE TO ME’, subsequently reaching no.1 in Australia for X Factor winner Samantha Jade, selling in excess of three times platinum. 2013 and 2014 provided continued success for Tania, with major cuts confirmed in The Netherlands (Jill Helena-'Runaway'), Japan(Femm-'Flood The Night'), Taiwan(Angela Zhang- 'Arrested' translated version), Italy(Vittoria Hyde-'Just Minutes Away') and Spain, with Chenoa and her haunting Spanish translation of single ‘ARRESTED’ featuring  on her No.1 charting album.

In 2014, Tania became an APRA nominee, ‘Pop Work of the Year’ (2014) for her contribution to the smash hit ‘What You’ve Done to Me’ and later that year, featured vocals and co-wrote with Afrojack’s partner in crime, DJ Leroy Styles, on ‘YOU AND I’ (Powerhouse Records). 2015 has seen Tania consolidate herself as an international writer, making contributions to the multi-platinum selling album of Eurovison Song Contest winner, Sweden’s Måns Zelmerlöw certified platinum sales with 'THE CORE OF YOU'),  international superstar Tina Arena’s latest offering ’Eleven’ now certified gold sales with 'NO FILTER'. Tania co-wrote Spain's Chenoa lead single from the same titled album 'SOY HUMANA', smashing airwaves and sales in Spain and Latin America. In 2016 on the local Swedish front, starlet Ida LaFontaine released the co-write between Tania, DNA and Swedish pop/indie artist songwriter Emil Berg, called 'GO AGAIN', artist/fashionista Vanessa Falk(daughter of legendary Swedish producer Christian Falk) released an emotional take on Tania's co-write 'BACK' from Vanessa's debut album 'First', and critically acclaimed producer/songwriter duo 'The Flights' released their infectious 'CANDLE WAX', co-created with Tania and her Aussie frequent songwriting partner, Cameron Mcglinchey. In September 2016, Australia's hugely talented Jessica Mauboy unleashed 'RISK IT'(Doko/Eloffson/DNA), the lead single from the high rating TV series and No.1 charting soundtrack 'The Secret Daughter'. Australia's entrant into Junior Eurovision in Malta November 2016, Alexa Curtis, performed and released the anthemic 'WE ARE' Tania penned with Ali Tamposi(Kelly Clarkson, Justin Beiber) and Boi1da(Eminem), also included on the 2016 JESC Soundtrack.

Other Doko hit contributions to the Swedish pop scene include Melodyfestivalen star Anton Hagman’s 'SOMEBODY TO LOVE’, ‘DETOX’ by Amelie(included on a playlist of favourite new tunes curated by Sia herself) and the haunting ‘WHITE DRESS BLACK DRESS’ by Bellhouse. Tania’s alluring top line penned with close Swedish friends/co-creators Mattias Lindblom & Marcus Lindberg (SISTER) 'HARDER NOW’ (Armada Music) remixed by Swiss DJ Pablo Nouvelle has heavily influenced the direction for her solo album (to be released in 2022).

In 2017, Tania focussed on her songwriting chemistry with James Roche for potential Bachelor Girl releases, amounting to their first release in 7 years, their social conscious single ’SPEAK'(2018). Subsequent co-writes and releases for Tania have included her contribution and performance to 2019 Eurovision 'Australia Decides’ ‘PIECE OF ME’,  Kpop stars Jus2 with ’TOUCH’, in 2020 Red Velvet Irene & Seulgi with ‘FEEL GOOD', Aussie pop sensations Sheppard with ‘COME BACK’, and UK pop icons STEPS with ‘ DON”T YOU LEAVE US HALF WAY’.   She also co-wrote for young multi-talented performer Jordan Ravi 'Australia Decides' 2020 with ‘PUSHING STARS’. Deep house co-writes and releases with UK DJs Deep Matter, Damon Hess & Matt Boothroyd continue for Tania, including the highly streamed ’95, ’SO DAMN BEAUTIFUL’, and ‘DANCING IN THE RAIN’.

Tania is now an official APRA (Australia and New Zealand's songwriting collecting society) Ambassador for the Nordic region, appointed by APRA to engage and nurture creative relationships between Australian and Scandinavian songwriters.

As 2021 finds Tania happily grounded back in Melbourne, there are more international releases for her songs in the pipeline, more fellow Aussie song making, and a solo album in the works bringing together her favourite Aussie and Swedish creatives.
